Catalytic Converter O2 Sensors
New cars, and most cars produced after 1980, have one or more oxygen sensors which contain small amounts of platinum. The sensor is part of the emissions control system and feeds data to the engine computer. The goal of the sensor is to detect rich or lean air/fuel mixtures and help the engine run as efficiently as possible, with as few emissions as possible.
